She’s struggled with heart disease for years and up until this year was covered by insurance. It was like pulling to teeth to finally secure her some Medicaid, but by the time she got it, it was too late and now she’s gone. Hopefully you all are able to somehow persuade more people to visit this website and become educated on their options.

My 10 1/2 month hospital stay and transplant as well as transplant drugs are fully covered. Hallelujah. I am not wealthy and I live paycheck to paycheck, I just happen to work the State of Connecticut and have excellent insurance. I just read a story of a women who has to raise money for a transplant and is currently on an LVAD. I hurt so much reading this as I know that being on an LVAD could increase death (I have seen this during my Cardiac ICU stay) or your length of time for receiving a heart transplant as you are put on the B list. This has to stop, your socioeconomic status should not be the decision for heart transplant or LVAD. I would love to have a center like St. Jude for transplant patients, heart, liver, kidney, lungs at little to no cost.
