Sheila's Story

May 18, 2009 was the happiest day of my life as I welcomed my baby girl, Juliana Elizabeth to the world.  She was born 5 weeks early due to a very bad case of Preeclampsia.  Complications in the hospital brought me to a CT scan that was proven negative for a blood clot in my lungs, but the doctors never checked my heart. June 14, 2010, I woke up, made coffee and had a heart attack standing in my kitchen.  Tests in the hospital were negative.  I even passed a stress test.  I went to follow up appointments for weeks, with severe chest pain, and still, no diagnosis.  I knew something was wrong and I wasn’t going to stop until I figured it out. July 31, 2010, I went to my Dad’s Cardiologist for a second opinion.  They ordered a stress test.  I had another heart attack four minutes in to the stress test.  I was rushed to the hospital where they found a 90% blockage in my LAD, which was stented. If I hadn’t pursued this, I wouldn’t be here today.
