NEW LIFE
Posted on 02/22/12 at 6:44 PM

February 22, 2012, is my third year anniversay of my New Life; I am a survivor. I received a heart transplant that has transcended my exixtence. I now live experiencing every day with gratitude and new eyes.

I awake full of enthusiasm for the day. Now matter what I may be doing in the moment, I make time to listen to the wail of a bird over head, or my cat softly snoring as he sleeps on his side in the sunshine. I watch as the sunlight dances lightly on his white and brown fur. Sunlight moving from his tail to the tip of is pink nose; his body moving with the warmth from the sun.

Prior to my transplant I lived a stress filled work life. I truly believed I was a super-hero. I felt there was nothing I could not accomplish. It was a lonley existence. One day I blacked out at the office copier machine. I was advised to see my doctor. With much trepidation, I did. I received the news that my heart was in severe trauma. I was suffering from chronic heart failure. My prognosis was grim. I was told that I had less than two years to live.
