Feb. 4, 2011 - Dr. Phil – Dr. Phil and his wife wore red to support National Wear Red Day and called on viewers to support the movement, providing information about the AHA’s mission to fight heart disease in women.

Feb. 4, 2011 -The TODAY Show – Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb interviewed Go Red Women Linda Couch and Katy Coffy, as well as Dr. Mieres and shared GRFW Make It Your Mission messaging.

Feb. 4, 2011 -The TODAY Show – Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb interviewed Cheryl Hines, who shared her personal story and GRFW Make It Your Mission messaging.

Feb. 4, 2011 - NFL Total Access  – Spokesperson Dallas Clark went red, mentioned National Wear Red Day and Go Red For Women's mission, stating that heart disease is the No.1 killer of women and shared his personal story of how heart disease has affected his life.

Feb. 4, 2011 - Access Hollywood – Shaun Robinson looked fabulous in the Macy’s red dress and alerted viewers of National Wear Red Day and the Go Red For Women movement.

Feb. 4, 2011 -The Talk – The entire cast and studio audience of The Talk went red. Hosts mentioned GRFW by name and sported red dress pins. Go Red spokesperson and UCLA cardiologist, Dr. Karol Watson, delivered stats re: heart disease in women and key prevention tactics.

Feb. 3, 2011 - The Gayle King Show - Gayle’s interview with Cheryl Hines featured Go Red For Women, National Wear Red Day and Tell 5 messaging. Cheryl mentioned that she has high cholesterol (Gayle does too). Gayle mentioned that both her mom and her dad died of heart attacks.  
 

Jan. 10, 2011 - The February issue of Prevention magazine notes the warning signs of heart disease in women in its special section, "The Heart Attack You're About to Have." It features Go Red spokesperson Carol Still.

Sept. 16, 2010 - Speak Up to Save Lives Premiere Event Sparks Media Attention
American Heart Association executives and the 2010-2011 Go Red Women introduced the Go Red For Women Presents: Speak Up to Save Lives NBC TV special, as well as the new 2010-2011 Go Red Women spokespeople to sponsors and select media. Activities included:

  • NASDAQ Opening Stock Market Bell Ringing with AHA President Ralph Sacco and Board Chairman Debra Lockwood, captured on:

    Fox Business
  • NBC's TODAY Show's Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford hosted the Go Red Women and Dr. Malissa Wood during the Sept. 16 morning show. The segment featured awareness of heart disease in women and promotion of the TV special.


May 24, 2010 - Go Red For Women spokespersons Jennifer H. Mieres, MD and Carol Still join Hoda Kotb and Donny Deutch on the Today Show in a special segment, "Putting Mom's Health First." Carol discusses her personal heart story and how her symptoms were dismissed by her doctors. Dr. Mieres emphasizes the importance of women being their own advocates, taking care of themselves first, knowing their numbers and family history, and listening to their bodies. National Wear Red Day 2010 Captured on TV Across the Nation:

  • Oprah mentioned Wear Red Day in an interview with Matt Lauer in early February. She noted that she changed her outfit to red after seeing him in a red tie and hearing him talk about National Wear Red Day on the Today Show.
  • Today Show anchors "Went Red" and told viewers about National Wear Red Day.
  • Jennie Garth on Today Show spoke with Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee about her personal heart story and encouraged women to speak up for their hearts.
  • Jennie Garth on Wendy Williams shared her personal story and passionately discussed prevention. The clip also features a Go Red For Women book giveaway.
  • Live with Regis and Kelly participated in NWRD and even thanked Macy's for sending Anchors Go Red gifts.
  • Bonnie Hunt encouraged viewers to Speak Up to Save Lives and her audience studio audience went RED.
  • MSNBC Live reported on NWRD and drove viewers to GRFW.org several times during the day, reminding viewers to wear red and discussing the stats on women and heart disease.

Super Bowl Goes Red
CBS Early Show featured one of our NFL moms Denise Wayne, mother of Indianapolis Colts star Reggie Wayne, discussing her involvement with GRFW, mentioning that NWRD and gifting the on-air host with a GRFW pin.


Project Runway Honors Heart Disease Survivors
Project Runway worked with Campbell's to present a red dress challenge featuring GRFW survivors.
