What are America’s leading doctor-recommended healthy eating tips? At the 2013 Woman’s Day Red Dress Awards, Go Red For Women asked medical health experts Dr. Leslee Shaw and Dr. Sanjay Gupta for their healthy eating advice.

Three Foods to Avoid

1. Sodium

Dr. Leslee Shaw, a research scientist on the American Heart Association Cardiovascular Imaging Committee, says to limit salty foods to avoid consuming excess sodium and to reduce your daily salt intake.

2. Saturated Fat

Dr. Sanjay Gupta, practicing surgeon and CNN Chief Medical Correspondent, recommends limiting saturated fats, common in deeply fried foods.

3. Processed Foods

Dr. Gupta also recommends avoiding heavily processed or “white” foods as they offer minimal nutritional value.
