I’m young and thin (relatively, anyway!) and despite working for the American Heart Association, didn’t think cardiovascular disease was my personal biggest heath risk. Then in April 2009, just three weeks after my Dad, 57, walked me down the aisle, he suffered a severe hemorrhagic stroke while playing tennis. His risk factors were high blood pressure and family history (his Dad died of a stroke at 63).
I hear these stories nearly every day, but now, it’s personal. I’m starting to look at myself in a different way and know that no matter how I look on the outside, it’s time to become a BetterMe on the inside so I can be here for my new husband and our family – future and present.
