I delivered my second born in 2009 and 13 days later I went in to the ER due to shortness of breath that woke me up out of my sleep. I arrived at the ER to find out my blood pressure was extremely high and I had fluid on my heart. After being in the Trauma room and being worked on and coding a few times, I was notified by the attending provider that I needed to call my closest kin before I died. So upon giving phone numbers to relatives, I was taken back to do a scan where I had a seizure going into the scanner and coded again. Later that night after coming into realization and waking up in ICU, I found out I had a seizure and had developed CHF. Me thinking, oh no!! This not real!. So after being discharged from the hosptial I was prescribed about 12 medications, which later after visitng different doctors got switched up but never lessened. I was told by the doctor that I had an enlarged heart, CHF as well as Cardiomyopathy. My ejection fraction at the time of being admitted was 15%, which is very close to death. I was on the medications for a year or so but as the years past, I can say although I’m a CHF patient, I am not on any medicines anymore. I still visit the Heart doctor yearly or as needed and my ejection fraction is between 50-55%, which I’ve been at a standstill for the past 2-3 yrs. but not complaining at all because I am luck to have come this far!
