Hypertension Guideline Resources

Uncontrolled high blood pressure (BP) can lead to heart attack, stroke, heart failure and other serious life threats. Nearly half of U.S. adults have high BP and 45.6% of those with high BP do not have it controlled. The AHA is launching a new initiative that elevates awareness and adoption of AHA’s 2017 Hypertension Clinical Guidelines. Clinicians have access to a blood pressure toolkit that provides education and resources fostering effective communication with their patients about BP. In addition, tools are available for patients to understand their numbers, including the impact of medications and substances on BP control. A digital patient engagement pilot for self-monitoring BP is set to launch in 2019. This initiative is sponsored by TYLENOL®.
