  • homemade or store-bought mayonnaise
  • 1 Tbsp. finely chopped capers
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. fresh, or, bottled lemon juice
  • 1 Tbsp. finely chopped dill pickle
  • 1 Tbsp. finely chopped green onion (white part only, light green part only) OR
  • 1 Tbsp. white onion
  • 1/4 tsp. ground black pepper

Directions

  1. In a bowl or jar that holds 1 cup mix all the ingredients together.
  2. Cover and keep refrigerated until used.
  3. If using homemade mayonnaise use within 2 days.

Keep it Healthy:  You can mix one-half low-fat Greek yogurt and one-half tartar sauce to reduce the saturated fat and calories.
