In 2016, the Go Red for Women Strategically Focused Research Network was launched through generous funding by longtime donor Sarah Soter with supporting funds from the AHA.

Columbia University Medical Center, Johns Hopkins Medicine, Magee-Women’s Research Institute, NYU School of Medicine, and UC San Diego School of Medicine make up the research institutes in the Go Red for Women SFRN studying a range of topics in women, including stress, sedentary behavior, poor sleep, pregnancy and heart failure.

What is a Strategically Focused Research Network (SFRN)?

An SFRN is a mechanism that provides the AHA an opportunity to address key strategic issues. Specific SFRNs focus on understanding, preventing, diagnosing and treating a particular research topic of interest.
